Join us for the Festival of the Animals!
At the Festival of the Animals, we celebrate the thing people love most about Rainbow Valley--our dedication to animals! Join us for a week of food, games, rides for the kids, arts and crafts, entertainment, and a host of special events and attractions. All the downtown merchants will be running festival specials, so be sure head down Rainbow Way to the Square for a little shopping. Bring the whole family--pets included--for a great time you won't soon forget!
Animal Costume Contest
There's nothing like seeing a Dachshund dressed as a hot dog. Or cat dressed as a mouse. Or a Dalmatian dressed as something we can't even describe. The Festival of the Animals Costume Contest is one of our most popular events. If you'd like to participate, there's no form to fill out. No entry fee to pay. Just show up on the Square with your pet and join the parade!
The contest is judged by prominent citizens and business people in Rainbow Valley who regard their appointed positions with the utmost seriousness. Or not.
Rainbow Valley Animal Shelter Petting Zoo
Is it worth coming to the festival just to play with the puppies and kittens? You bet it is! The Rainbow Valley Animal Shelter will be bringing in plenty of adorable, adoptable pets for you and your family to interact with, from dogs and cats to llamas and bunnies and even a horse or two.
And this year we'll have a special attraction we know will become a favorite: A doggie kissing booth. For just a dollar, you'll get a kiss from one of our most lovable dogs. Come by as often as you want to. The animals will be waiting for you! All proceeds benefit the Rainbow Valley Animal Shelter.
Blessing of the Animals
The first Blessing of the Animals was conducted by St. Francis of Assisi out of his love for all creatures. In Rainbow Valley, we continue that tradition during the Festival of the Animals. Bring your pets to the Square to join in the procession, then receive a blessing from Father Andrews of the Rainbow Valley Episcopal Church.
Join us in the Square on Sunday evening for a party you won't soon forget. City Limits is serving up the kind of feast you're going to be talking about for months, and White Lightning will be getting the party moving with some great country & western music. So grab your honey for an evening of Texas-style food, drink, and fun!
